Betty Nichols
Fused Glass Artist
Inspired by the Pacific Coast of Southern California where she spent her childhood and the emerald waters and white sands of the Gulf Coast where she now lives, Betty imbues the wonders and colors of both into her artistic compositions.
As a youngster, Betty was guided by her father who encouraged her to complete complex engineering tasks that were uncommon for a young girl. Coupled with her natural sense of creativity, Betty set about fashioning sculpture, painting, and glass works that incorporated the creative skills of an artisan with those of the finest craftsman. Her art pieces are endowed with the palette of the sea, the surrounding flora and fauna and the forms of the undulating dunes. Art lovers are stirred by her use of colors and shapes.
Betty is a woman of faith loving God, family, friends, and her art– all in proper perspective. Her artistic endeavors are infused with the spiritual that enhances all artists and art.
She and her husband, Jeff, raised a close, creative family of three sons, Jeffery, Jonathan and Jordan, who make wonderful music together and bring happiness to their community- each in their own way.
Betty’s introduction to glass art was at a class with friends at the Glass Deer studio in Santa Rosa Beach, FL
Finding that she enjoyed the process she participated in additional classes and found a true passion for the art.
In addition to her ongoing work in creating new pieces Betty is also now teaches classes at Glass Deer Studio.
